What is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. Calvary MOPS currently accommodates 55-65 Moms at each meeting. To make this large group of ladies less overwhelming, we are assigned to a table group for the year. In this table group, approximately 10 Moms get the chance to know one another all throughout the year. Additionally, these Moms often will gather for play dates, couples nights, as well as ladies nights. Each group does what suits their personality and interests. For more information about MOPS International click HERE.
Who is MOPS for?
MOPS is for all moms who have preschool children from birth through Kindergarten. If you are expecting a preschooler through birth or adoption you are welcome too.
What is Moppets?
Moppets is the ministry for the children of the mothers attending a MOPS meeting. These children are able to hear a Bible story, play games and participate in art activities that teach them about God and His love. For more information click the "Moppets" tab above.
What happens at a MOPS meeting?
When you arrive at MOPS you will drop off your children at MOPPETS childcare. After a quick goodbye, you will move to the meeting space and enjoy a great breakfast made by MOPS Moms. Following announcements, we usually have a guest speaker, then we have discussion and prayer time in our table groups. Finally, we have craft time and then a short devotional to get us ready to be the best Moms we can be.
Where is MOPS held?
Our MOPS group is held at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Broomfield, CO. To learn more about Calvary E Free click HERE. You do not need to be a member of Calvary Church or any other Church to attend MOPS. Everyone is welcome. Calvary Church's address is 12700 N. Sheridan Blvd, Broomfield CO 80020. Click HERE for a map.
How much does it cost?
To join, you will need to submit a registration form and pay the registration fee. Visitors may visit one meeting free. Upon returning to a second meeting, there is a $30 annual registration fee that covers your membership in MOPS International. As a member of MOPS International you will receive six issues of MOMSense Magazine, weekly MOM emails, and a MOPS International calendar.
Meeting fees are $8 for each member. The meeting fee offsets the costs of speakers, creative activities, decorations, paper products, advertising, newsletters, the charter renewal fee, child care, and other supplies needed for MOPS operations. The fee may be paid at each meeting or a punch card, good for five meetings, can be purchased for $40. If a punch card is purchased and you are unable to use it all before the end of the year, the remaining money will be considered a donation to MOPS and will not be refunded.
In order to keep our meeting costs low we hold fundraisers during the year. Past fundraisers have included silent auctions, consignment/garage sales, and selling items relevant to preschool moms (this past year we sold family planner books).
What topics do the speakers discuss?
Presentations from speakers offer information that is relevant to the life of a preschooler mother. Topics may explore a mom's emotional needs, practical instruction, building a bible-based home, and special times of celebrating the gift of motherhood. Some of the topics we have enjoyed in the past are: child safety, nutrition, preschool activities, financial planning, learning your child's "love language", keeping love in your marriage, and nourishing the heart of moms.
What type of crafts do you make?
Through craft projects women are encouraged to experience the sense of accomplishment that comes with trying and finishing new things. These items have become fun things for Moms to have or to give as gifts. Our craft coordinator finds many projects for us to enjoy. Some of the crafts we have made in the past are: beaded bracelets, frame decoupage, scrapbooking accessories, placemat purses, votive candle holders, snack mix, and valentine snack bags.
How can I be a part of MOPS?
